If your server is ever down, you can easily bring it back online by accessing your web control panel at DarkStar. To restart your server, please perform the following:
- You will need to log in via https://my.darkstarllc.com/.
- View the Network Status (ensure no maintenance is scheduled in the location you are at).
- Click "Manage Ventrilo Servers" under the "My Servers" box on the left side.
- Under "Actions" drop down, click "Reboot Server" and hit the "Go" button on the right.
- Wait 60 seconds -- your server should now be back online.
What to do if the above steps do not work:
- Ensure you can ping the IP Address of your server.
I can ping my server -- it's still down, now what?
- You need to view your server log file.
- You will need to log in via https://my.darkstarllc.com/.
- Click "Manage Ventrilo Servers" under the "My Servers" box on the left side.
- Click Go.
- Click View Raw Server Log
- Wait 5 minutes.
- Click View Raw Server Log
- Ensure that no entries at the bottom say "failed to open configuration data" or something of the sort, or any errors.
- If there are errors, you may be able to figure out what is wrong.
- If not, please go to Configuration -> Ensure all fields are filled out (important: Spam settings should be set to interval 3000 and times 3. Make sure these fields are not empty.
- Ensure server name in configuration is not empty, or less than 4 characters.
- Click Save Settings, wait 5 minutes. Server should now be back online.
I cannot ping my server. What now?
- First, ensure other users are unable to connect. If they are -- ensure you have the right host name and port that you are connecting to. Ensure that your server shows as offline in the control panel. If it shows as online -- you have an issue at your ISP end, or a firewall problem.
- Otherwise -- please ensure no network status items are posted about an outage for your location. If they are, please listen to what it says -- if none are posted, please submit a ticket about the problem.
