How do I password-protect my Ventrilo Server?

You can password protect your server by logging onto our control panel and setting a global password. Ensure you also change the Authentication Type to "Global Password" or "User-Specific Passwords."


Via the Control Panel

  • Log on to https://my.darkstarllc.com/.
  • Click "Manage Ventrilo Servers" under the "My Servers" tab on the left.
  • Click Go.
  • Click Alter Configuration.
  • Adjust your Global Password.
  • Should you only want registered users in the USR file to access the server, choose "User Specific Passwords" from the Authentication Type setting drop down box.
  • Should you want anyone to join if they have the server password, set the Authentication Type setting drop down box to "Global Password."
  • Click Save Settings.
  • Wait for server to restart (typically 90-270 seconds).
